St. George Island Charity Chili Cook-Off is an annual event held on the first Saturday of March, to benefit the St. George Island Fire Department. Exceptionally popular, the Chili Cook-Off will celebrate its 35th year in 2017 and attracts over 5,000 visitors to the Island.
There are a variety of events including a crockpot chili competition (prepared at home and judged on-site), Miss Chili Pepper and Mr. Hot Sauce contests, a golf tournament, and the “Red Pepper 5k” race.
The centerpiece of the event is, of course, the Chili Cook-Off itself. No ingredients can be prepared before hand, and all seasoning and cooking must be done on-site.
With three hours of cooking time, and a star-studded cast of chili specialists from far and wide, the competition gets hot and heavy!
Officially sanctioned by the International Chili Society, winners of the St. George Island Charity Chili Cook-Off advance to the I.C.S World Chili Championships.
