Come celebrate our nation’s spirit of freedom and independence on St. George Island!
The 4th of July is one of our most popular summer holidays. This is the busiest time of year and yet there are still miles of beach to stretch out on and enjoy.
Everyone is invited to celebrate Independence Day on St. George Island by participating in our very own, one of a kind 4th of July parade. This is a come one, come all, nothing like you’ve ever seen type of parade, and an annual tradition of St. George Island that we would love for others to enjoy with us! Walk alongside, drive your golf cart, or pull your boat, just be sure to dress for the occasion! Don’t forget to fill your coolers and bring your water gun, but Please NO water balloons (harmful to wildlife)! True fun for locals and visitors alike, and spectators are warned they may get wet!
Stick around all day and enjoy festivities and fireworks on the beach behind the Blue Parrot Grill about dark-thirty. Enjoy music, drinks and fun on the deck, or walk down to the beach to pick your spot in the sand! Listen to the Ooohs and Aaahs of the crowd while the St. George Island beach lights up in a spectacular show!
However, if you just can’t wait for July 4th, Riverfront Park, on Water Street in downtown Apalachicola, is the place to be on the 3rd of July! This fantastic home town event draws thousands of people who come from near and far to celebrate our Independence, a little ahead of everyone else in America. Enjoy great food, a parade, free ice cream, the veteran’s tribute, art activities, a bouncy houses for the kids, and a stunning fireworks display over the Apalachicola River, rated top 12 in the State! This event has grown and gotten better year after year, and is an event you do not want to miss!
