Tropical Weather Updates: Resort Vacation Properties of St. George Island
8:00 am, Friday, Oct 6, St. George Island –
Unfortunately for our Gulf Coast friends farther west, it looks like TS Nate is headed for Louisiana. We’ll be continuing to monitor the storm’s progress but at this time don’t anticpate any storm impact in our area. If you’re traveling down this weekend, we’ll see you soon!
As always, keep an eye on the National Weather Center for updates.
5:00 pm, Thursday, Oct 5, St. George Island –
The 5:00 update from the National Weather Service continues to track towards Louisiana. We will monitor the forecast and update Friday morning unless there is a dramatic change in the meantime.
11:00 am, Thursday, October 5, St. George Island –
The 11:00 update from the National Weather Service has tracked the storm farther west, in the vicinity of Louisiana. We will continue to monitor the storm but don’t anticipate significant local effects with the most recent forecast.
We will, of course, make updates as needed if the forecast changes significantly.
8:00 am, Thursday, October 5, St. George Island –
As of the 8:00 am update, the National Weather Service has upgraded the storm in the northern Caribbean Sea to Tropical Storm Nate. Overnight, the projected storm track shifted slightly to the west, a tentative but positive development for the St. George Island area. Of course, track projections this far out still have quite a bit of uncertainty, but we’re cautiously optimistic.
No Warnings or Watches have yet been issued for the Gulf Coast. We will continue to monitor reports and forecasts, and will have our next update at 11:00 am.
8:00 pm, Wednesday, October 4, St. George Island –
As of the 8:00 pm update, the National Hurricane Center still has yet to issue any warnings or specific information for our area. Although the current storm track projects possible development into a hurricane by the weekend, at present Tropical Depression 16 has yet to become a Tropical Storm. We will next update after the 8:00 am forecast tomorrow.

2:30 pm, Wednesday, October 4, 2017, St. George Island –
We are currently monitoring the conditions and progress of Tropical Depression Sixteen.
At this time, possible trajectories show it moving north over the next week but it is still too far out to know much more. As of this afternoon at 2:00, the National Hurricane Center has not issued any advisories, warnings, or watches for our area, the greater Gulf Coast, or any US territories.
